The idea started from a simple frustration: the web is full of “free” converters that make you wait in an upload queue, watermark the output, cap the file size, or ask for a card before they hand anything back. For the small, everyday jobs — a video that won’t attach to an email, a screen recording in the wrong format, a clip that needs to be square for a feed — that is far more friction than the task deserves. Modern browsers can now decode and re-encode video on their own, so most of those jobs never need a server at all.
How the free tools work

If we ever cannot do something well or honestly yet, the page will say so plainly instead of faking it.
